Logging into Office

We're making some improvements to how you log in to keep your Office account more secure and your data better protected.

A safer way to log into Office

What's changing
Starting from 15 June, you'll log into Office using your email address instead of your username.

What this means for you
For most customers, this will be a quick and seamless update. The first time you log in after the change, you may be guided through a short setup, this could include:

  • Confirming access to your email address
  • Linking Office accounts
  • Creating a stronger password if needed

This will only take a few minutes.

If you use multiple accounts with the same email address, you’ll be able to link these together, so you no longer need to remember multiple sets of credentials.

What you need to do now
No action is needed before June 15th. We recommend sharing this update to everyone on your team who uses Office. Please note, this change does not impact educators or families logging in to Playground or Home.

If your service uses Single Sign-On (SSO), your login experience will remain exactly the same and no action is required on your part. SSO configurations will continue to work as normal.
